The program is open mainly to students who obtained at least an undergraduate degree in economics at Polish or
another EU university or its equivalent in the case of those who obtained their degrees outside the EU. However,
students with other backgrounds, especially those with mathematical skills, are also invited to apply. Students
who did not major in economics but have some background in economics, mathematics and statistics may apply for an
extension year to make up for deficiencies by taking selected undergraduate courses. The extra year is subject to a
standard annual tuition fee.
Application Instructions
Admission to the program is based on academic excellence. Prospective candidates need to submit official transcripts from
all colleges, professional schools and universities they attended. All documents issued in languages other than English or
Polish must be accompanied by certified English or Polish translations. In addition to academic transcripts, three letters of
evaluation are required. These should be requested from persons in a position to evaluate from personal knowledge candidate's
qualifications for graduate study. Letters of evaluation should be sealed with the evaluator's signature on the reverse side of
the envelope. Moreover, applicants should submit a motivation letter explaining why they want to study international economics at
Warsaw University. All candidates must register online in the
University Internet Candidate Application
System (IRK).
In the IRK system, candidates enter their personal data, upload their photograph in digital format, remit the application
fee and print out a two-page questionnaire, to be attached, once signed, to the application. Application deadline is April 30.
Applicants who are currently in school must submit a statement from their home university which specifies their graduation date.
They also provide Warsaw University with their most recent transcripts as soon as they become available but no later than July 15.
Final decisions will be communicated by May 15.
